Plant Essentials
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant: From spring to winter, feed every two weeks with a balanced fertiliser. In winters, feed once in 6 weeks. The Ixora loves the full sun and well-ventilated space.
Repotting: Ixora is an easy-going plant and it is sufficient to report them only when they outgrow their current pot. Prune regularly and use well-draining potting soil.
Propagation: Propagation of Ixora can be done via stem cuttings. Take a 4 to 5 inch long cutting and remove the lowermost leaves, dip the cut edge in rooting hormone and root in water for 3-4 weeks.
Common Problems
1. Why is the Ixora plant dropping leaves?
Ixora's a re tropical plant and susceptible to cold drafts. The plant will drop leaves if they are in an area with a cold draft. Place the plant in a warmer area out of the draft.
2. What is the black deposition on my Ixora?
Ixora's are prone to black sooty mould fungus if they don’t get good airflow. Clean your plant underwater pressure and spray with neem oil. Then place it in a well-ventilated space with full sun.
3. Why does my plant have very few blooms?
Fertilise your plants more regularly, once every two weeks from spring to fall and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Also, prune your plants to promote branching and induce flowering heads.
