Plant Essentials
Fertilizer/care for the garden: Feed the plant three to four times a year with a well-balanced fertilizer.
Repotting: Every year, repot your Rubber Plant. Use a pot that is one size larger than the previous one.
Propagation: Rubber Plants can be propagated using one of two methods: air layering or stem cuttings. To ensure efficient propagation of the Rubber Plant through cuttings, obtain a good cutting about 6 inches long.
Common Problems
1. Why are my Rubber Plant's leaves falling off?
Overwatering is the most frequent cause of leaf death. Be certain that you just water the plant after the topsoil has dried up. Leaf loss may also be caused by other factors such as low light or cold draughts. To prevent leaf loss, relocate your plant to a brighter place.
2. Why are my Rubber Plant's leaves turning yellow?
Overwatering causes yellowing of the leaves. Change the watering routine. Until watering, allow the top one inch of soil to dry. Yellowing of leaves can also be caused by other causes such as a lack of sunshine or a rapid rise in temperature.
3. Why are the leaves on my Ficus Elastica being mushy?
Overwatering causes mushy leaves. If you see this, stop watering the plant immediately until the top 1 inch of soil is dry. When the topsoil is dry, water the vine.
Style and Decor
Light Requirements: Rubber Plants can grow in low to bright indirect light. Hold the Rubber Plant free from direct sunlight.
Locations: The Rubber Plant thrives in a warm, well-lit environment. The plant will continue to thrive and be stable as long as it is kept out of direct sunlight. The Rubber Plant works well in a variety of settings, including shaded balconies, softly lit walls, and centre tables.
Styling/decor tip: A Rubber Plant's large, shiny green leaves draw attention. When used as a centrepiece on your living room table, on a windowsill, or on a stand, the Rubber Plant is breathtaking. When your Rubber Plant has grown tall enough, you can put it next to your TV or in the lobby of your living room.
